Welcome to Bayfield Summer Concerts.  Join us every Wednesday from June to September, 5:30, at the Bayfield Presbyterian Church.  We offer a season of classical, world, jazz, and folk music.  Be sure to check out our musicians below.  Admission is always free although we do appreciate a $10 donation at the door.  Be our guest after each concert to meet our musicians and enjoy wine and non-alcoholic fare.

Warren Nelson and Friends

*NOTE* This concert is located at the Maritime Museum, 131 S 1st St, Bayfield, WI.
Original songs of Bayfield’s maritime history performed  by Warren Nelson and his friends Ed Willet, Rowan Nelson-Ferris, and Phillip Anich  in the setting of Bayfield Maritime Museum’s carefully preserved artifacts from the storied lighthouses and ships.

Mark Mazullo

Mark Mazullo presents solo piano classics by J. S. Bach, Claude Debussy, and Ludwig van Beethoven. Professor of music and author of several books on classical music, Dr. Mazullo is a great performance artist, entertainer and teacher who regularly fills the Wallace Fine Arts Center at Macalester.College in St. Paul. He delighted Bayfield concert goers in 2019 and 2022.

Mark Billy

Mark Billy is the leading Indigenous baritone of his generation. He is a Verdi baritone, clarinetist, and Native flutist of Indigenous (Choctaw tribe) ancestry from Finley, Oklahoma. He appears with  Kiegan Ryan, composer and cello, and pianist Robert Ragoonanan for a program of original, contemporary, and classical music.

Austin Wahl

Austin Wahl is an internationally acclaimed performer and teacher. With nearly thirty competition prizes, including ten first place finishes, he is among the most successful of today's American guitarists. He is also an accomplished folk mandolinist and will feature in a program of solo classical guitar and folk mandolin.

Pick-A-Rib Three, led by Twin City Jazz Historian and clarinetist Tony Balluff with Rick Carlson on piano and Dave Michael on drums. Classical clarinet jazz from the swing era focussing on American jazz clarinetist and bandleader James "Jimmie" Noone.

Eira returns with music from Scotland, Ireland, Newfoundland, Canada, Wales, China, Scandinavia and the US in a program of traditional, contemporary and original songs, tunes and stories; sung in English, Gaelic, Irish, Welsh, Mandarin Chinese and more; played on fiddle, erhu, guitars, bodhrán, octave fiddle, octave mandolin, button accordion, whistles.

Madeline Island Chamber

Fellows from Madeline Island Chamber Music present Music of Our Time, a program of string quartet music by leading contemporary composers. Since 1985 MICM has had a rich history and stands today as one of the most illustrious places for chamber music study. Through concentrated study and performance of chamber music, MICM advances the next generation of chamber musicians. Notes will be given from the stage by the performers and Artistic Director, Jonathan Swartz.

Yazmin and the Havana Quartet

Yazmin and the Havana Quartet. Founded in 2017, the Havana Quartet has established itself as a leading ensemble in both classical and contemporary Cuban culture. The quartet is composed of Hansel Pérez Carrero (director, violin), Ana Caridad Frómeta (violin), Amaya Fuentes Sarria (viola), and Denise Hernández Rabeiro (cello), all graduates of the University of the Arts in Havana. For this special concert they will be joining forces with Yazmin, a powerful singer-songwriter and pianist originally from Washburn, WI.

Trout Quintet

Notable Minnesota  and Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra  musicians (pianist and director Timothy Lovelace,  cellist Erik Wheeler, bassist David Williamson, violist David Auerbach, violinist  Ben Odhner.) form a quintet to perform Franz Schuberts “Trout”  and other timeless pieces.

Friends of the Minnesota  Bach Ensemble

Retired Minnesota Orchestra principal oboist Basil Reeve, pianist Mary Jo Gothmann, Minnesota Orchestra violinist Cece Belcher,  and SPCO cellist Richard Belcher form a quartet to play classical music composed for oboe, piano, cello and violin.

Tiffany Darling

Area pediatrician Tiffany Darling is also a trained soprano who has performed locally with the Garland City Chamber Players, the Chequamegon Area choir, and in concerts.  She will perform selections from the operatic and art song repertoire.
